摘要: Summary: Sex is shrouded in mystery. Not only does it preferentially occur the dark for both fungi and many animals, but evolutionary biologists continue to debate its benefits given costs light of pervasive nature. Experimental studies sexual reproduction with as model systems have begun provide evidence that balance between asexual shifts response selective pressures. Given their unique history opisthokonts, along metazoans, serve exceptional models evolution sex sex-determining regions genome (the mating type locus) transitions commonly outcrossing/self-sterile inbreeding/self-fertile modes reproduction. We review here state understanding fungal kingdom also areas where field has contributed will contribute illuminating general principles paradigms
