摘要: The subsurface biosphere may constitute as much 50 percent of Earth9s biomass. Direct and indirect evidence suggests that an extensive exists in the rocks below sea floor. This survey basalts Atlantic, Pacific, Indian Oceans supports hypothesis bacteria have colonized upper oceanic crust, which has a volume estimated at 1018 cubic meters. Although this is largest habitat on Earth, its low abundance constitutes less than 1
