摘要: Abstract The paper explores the feasibility of using ballistic hopper vehicles with CO2/metal rocket engines instead rovers in Mars missions. mission scenario involves several flights and hence visiting sites on surface. Martian CO2 is acquired before every takeoff; liquid used directly as oxidiser for powdered magnesium fuel transported from Earth. analysis takes into account power time required acquisition. mathematical simulation shows possibilities to fulfil exploration programme typically assigned a rover. It also shown that propulsion promises much longer hops compared conventional bipropellant
