The Effects of Globalization on Wage Inequality: New Insights from a Dynamic Trade Model with Heterogeneous Firms

摘要: Fears of increasing inequality play a dominant role in current debates on how globalization is affecting our economies. After brief review recent trends wage inequality, this policy paper presents new insights the dynamic effect trade liberalization inequality. In context model with costly labour mobility (Lechthaler and Mileva, 2013), we show that depends i) time horizon considered, ii) degree worker mobility, iii) (partial/full). short-run, observed increases are driven by an increase inter-sectoral while long run, skill premium.
