Individuals can turn to online communities interact with similar peers, which help buffer negative effects resulting from difficulties.ObjectiveThis study investigated the reasons that older adults join a diabetes community better understand specific resources are being sought.MethodsWe used semantic network analyses categorize participants provided for joining during sign-up process.ResultsThe most frequent were seek information about their condition, self-management of difficulties, feelings informational support, having whom share. Women more likely go sharing companionship as well support reasons, whereas men general reasons.ConclusionsThis shows community: increased regarding difficulties. Practitioners want consider ways promote access among patients source resource provide sense community.
