摘要: The effect of propranolol on mortality and reinfarction after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in cigarette smokers nonsmokers was studied the Beta Blocker Heart Attack Trial. Cigarette (n = 2,332) were 5 years younger than had a lower incidence diabetes mellitus, systemic hypertension, previous AMI cardiomegaly. Among smokers, placebo group higher total rate (11.0 vs 7.4%, p less 0.0008) more sudden cardiac deaths (7.1 4.6%, 0.009). In (7.9 7.1%, greater 0.64) similar to group. After baseline adjustment, estimated have 1.6 times risk dying as compared (p 0.0007). Adjusting for differences, both treatment with nonsmoking predictors survival. No detectable nonsmoking/propranolol interaction could be identified. survivors beneficial is observed smokers. Nevertheless, smoking continues factor even those receiving propranolol.
