摘要: Abstract The time-frequency-scale features of high-resolution rainfall are investigated in an effort to gain more insight into the rainfall-generating mechanism. In particular, we look for existence persistent and short-lived structures their associated frequencies time (length) scales, as well energy they carry. We try achieve this objective via wavelet packet representation. best representation a signal from point view minimum entropy (i.e. maximum information few coefficients) is obtained, and, process, define two measures: (1) basis spectrum, which analogous well-known Fourier spectrum; (2) frequency persistence new measure, essence gives idea what scale has been chosen represent particular frequency; thus localization that time, whether or short lived, known. discuss implications our analysis separating stratiform convective components rain gaining cascading mechanism purpose model building.
