摘要: ABSTRACT. Type-conversion of coastal scrub to exotic annual grassland has been extensive in certain parts southern California, especially drier inland locales. Field observations suggest that rock outcrops harbor native perennials associated with vegetation after conversion occurred. Surveys were conducted test this observation. In addition, measures fossorial mammal disturbance, soil depth, plant abundance, and moisture collected used infer potential mechanisms may influence patterns vegetation. Results showed larger are more perennial species than smaller outcrops, consistent predictions based on species-area relationships. the edges shown have greater richness surrounding matrix.
