摘要: The objective of this chapter is to illustrate the current state European rail freight research and how can improve support green sustainable transport, as promoted by governments Union (EU). Since much EU policy based on funded research, a review such rail- freight-related carried out over past 20 years under EU/EC framework programmes, will help contextualize challenges faced in promoting governance corridors. International systems, improvement rail-road modal transfer points, unexploited markets, vehicle design, train productivity, energy use, signalling multimodal corridors, are all discussed. We argue that strategic transport policy, only realistically be implemented alongside improvements long distance transportation sector, where becomes backbone network land surface transportation. Additionally, with trend towards urbanization, road would serve pretty last mile operation, reliable, efficient, safe environmentally sound inter-urban system needed, economic growth maintain quality life every citizen.
