摘要: This chapter commences with a discussion on the origins of modern epidemiology, which is considered as basic science public health. The inherent vision health discourse was to keep population or collective at centre while investigating aetiology disease well formulating policies. Epidemiology, subsequent discovery germ theory, took completely new turn towards location within bacteria and other such organisms. It marked shift from multifactorial single-factor explanation causation. therefore forgotten that epidemiology study complex interacting variables impinging altering others themselves undergoing modifications, shimmering ‘web causation’. approach emerged essentially reductionist shifted focus away an individual, multiple causes single ones, environment clinic, bacterium finally gene. obvious in three principal phases epidemiological practice, namely, risk factor, clinical molecular epidemiology. Each these successive takes closer tradition methodological individualism.
