European women in neurosurgery: II – Historical characters and living legends

摘要: Abstract A collaborative global working group of women neurosurgeons in multiple countries at different stages their neurosurgical careers undertook the task researching history European neurosurgery. While doing so, we happened upon many remarkable female who overcame great adversity, made tremendous contributions to society and institutional neurosurgery, displayed numerous talents beyond operating room. In first part this paper, recounted a chronology Europe, highlighting most achievements every decade, from 1920’s 2020. honor fascinating both historical characters living legends. These have overcome adversity also excelled huge variety pursuits. some were themselves refugees, uncovered noteworthy examples immersed humanitarian missions tried better world through political action. There are stories beating odds, taking on biased institutions proving worth, spite prevailing system. Most inspirational, discovered our comprehensive research neurosurgery that future is increasingly female.
