摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on dementia, its diagnosis and the related characteristics. There is currently no effective treatment for stopping or reversing impairment caused by degenerative forms of dementia. Affected persons eventually become bedridden, unable to swallow, completely dependent others their care. Persons close someone with dementia typically perceive declines in repertoire as major changes “personality”. However, behavior problems that develop has been dominated use antipsychotic atypical medications. The challenging behaviors over course continue result patients receiving restrictive pharmacological mechanical restraint. Hence, within field care there increasing recognition need development restraint-free interventions.
