ACTION RESEARCH TO EXPAND HOPE ANIMAL-ASSISTED CRISIS RESPONSE (AACR) TEAMS IN THE UNITED STATES

摘要: Millions of people are adversely affected by crises and disasters each year. Response to relies heavily on volunteer organizations assist in the aftermath these traumatic events. HOPE Animal-Assisted Crisis (AACR) is one organization that provides needed support those impacted way specially trained crisis dogs. Unfortunately, there a lack certified teams able effectively respond. The research question for this study was how can AACR expand (recruit train qualified new teams) into currently unoccupied areas. This answered through collaborative action (AR) with organization’s members, who possess specialized knowledge training work. Due fact nature AR did not contain sensitive information posed risk participants written permission obtained use site name, an exemption granted name study. In particular, worked regional directors charge various areas U.S., elected board responsible oversight approval organizational changes, group current team members. Participants engaged interviews focus groups order share perspectives experiences solve identified problem. Through process, determined plan (target area expansion strategies recruit members). goal document process which be refined re-used future efforts. Implementation will also result expanded territory, increased ability meet requests services, ultimately enhanced recovery exposed disasters. Keyword: Dedication To my wonderful dogs, Maggie Zeus.
