Relationship of intestinal parasites to the environment and to behavioral factors in children in the Bolikhamxay Province of Lao PDR.

摘要: From March to July 1998 the infection rates of 732 children aged below 15 years were assessed. The investigation was conducted in selected villages Bolikhamxai Province Lao PDR. Socio-economic conditions and behavioral pattern studied. three soil-transmitted helminths, Ascaris lumbricoides, Trichuris trichiura hookworm found with prevalence 67.14, 17.49 12.83%, respectively. Infection other intestinal parasites negligible. Of investigated, 56.7% harbored one 20.45% more than parasite. Except for hookworms, no statistically significant differences between genders. probability being infected A. lumbricoides is associated living mountainous areas. For staying plains. A river vicinity village linked infested trichiura. Not belong a family ability own expensive items increases by almost two times getting lumbricoides. Unhygienic factors important increasing suffering from T infection. Behavioral did not seem be related infections. It concluded that after mass treatment, besides promoting construction toilets, it also improve personal hygiene so lasting impact on rate most prevalent PDR could achieved. Measures control parasitic infections do have postponed until marked improvement economic situation has occurred.
