Urban forest research in the Mediterranean: A systematic review

摘要: Abstract The Mediterranean region is facing many challenges, some of which can be addressed by nature-based solutions such as urban forests and green space. However, at best, forest research from countries has been only briefly in review papers up to date. This Scopus-based paper provides first insights into the development 20-year period 1996 2015. purpose was a) analyse distribution identify that are forerunners based on number publications, b) themes across per country, hence point gaps needs. Researchers Italy, Turkey Spain were most productive analysed period. Research mainly concentrated North, while it scarce non-existent South Eastern (excluding Greece). Papers dealing with pollution, human health sociocultural values frequent. Some exhibited specialisation regard certain themes. For instance Italian researchers mostly focused topics related pollution management, majority Spanish context health, main theme for Turkey. also methods, approaches study locations. Suggested future includes analysis quality knowledge well collaboration between researchers, institutions countries.
