摘要: American skullcap (the aerial part of Scutellaria lateriflora L.) has been traditionally used by Native Americans and Europeans as a nerve tonic, sedative, anticonvulsant. However, despite some previous studies, the quality safety, bioactive ingredients, pharmacological properties are not fully understood. The aims this study were to characterize chemical ingredients evaluate its anticonvulsant activity. Twelve phenolic compounds including 10 flavonoids two phenylethanoid glycosides isolated identified from marker compounds. An HPLC analytic method for analyzing these in commercial products different sources was established validated. activity determined rat models acute seizures induced pilocarpine pentylenetetrazol. results indicate that (1) compounds, especially flavonoids, predominant constituents skullcap; (2) have similar constituents, but content relative proportions individual varies widely; (3) rodent seizures.
