摘要: The Mediterranean Sea is an enclosed basin composed of two similar basins and different sub-basins. It a concentration basin, where evaporation exceeds precipitation. In the surface layer there inflow Atlantic water which modified along its path to Eastern basin. This transformation occurs through heat loss specifically in Levantine furthermore site mass formation processes, can be studied experimentally because their easy accessibility. There are main reasons why important. first one impact on global thermohaline circulation, second reason that considered as Laborartory for investigating processes occurring scale world ocean. this paper we want provide short historical review evolving knowledge circulation has emerged from experimental investigations over last decades. We start by describing old picture had stationary, smooth large patterns. Then show major experiments led discovery sub-basin mesoscale features. conclude with dynamical EMT 1990s most exciting ongoing new research programmes.
