摘要: Air quality monitoring is an integral part of Environmental Impact Assessment Programme. It can be carried out either by direct air samplers or employing biomonitoring plants. Monitoring pollution using living organisms provide information on the nature and quantity pollutants at low cost. Lichens used as organism because they have slow growth rate survive longer than vascular plants are highly dependent atmospheric source for nutrients. The feature that makes lichens a very useful group in comparison to other do not shed their parts remain repository facts. Lichen diverse wide geographic area India cost effective alternative monitor such region. data presented here consolidated about studies till date, which will base line future prospects utilizing India. discussed Pb, Zn, Ni, Cu, Hg, Cr polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
