摘要: Children treated for medulloblastoma (MB) exhibit long-term impairments in declarative memory, but the pathophysiology underlying this is unclear. Previous studies report declines global white matter volume, have failed to link memory performance. We examined effects of treatment on measures brain structure (i.e., total and gray volume) specific structures hippocampus uncinate fasciculus). used volumetric MRI diffusion tensor imaging pediatric survivors MB one survivor astrocytoma with cranial-spinal radiation (n = 20), healthy controls 13). Compared controls, group exhibited reduced damage fasciculus, a smaller right hippocampus. Critically, hippocampal volume was not related differences suggesting that may be especially vulnerable effects. A subset 10) also underwent testing using Children's Memory Scale (CMS). Performance general index CMS significantly correlated fasciculus. The examination regions provides better understanding cognitive outcome children tumors, particularly medulloblastoma.
