摘要: Abstract We report here the first occurrence of a small pterosaur, Thalassodromeus sebesensis from Maastrichtian Hateg Island. This new species with its significantly expanded premaxillary crest extends known distribution this genus South America to Europe. Furthermore, important discovery doubles thalassadromine fossil record and demonstrates 42 million years temporal displacement older Aptian Gondwanan congener sethi . T. sp. nov. is diagnosed by an unusual synapomorphies shared only Brazilian congener, T Yet, specimen displays enough autapomorphic characters erect thalassodromine species. The in exposure for diverse angiosperm assemblage lends more support tapejarid flowering plants co-evolution. It also suggests was forest dweller, as such possibly not competing giant azhdarchid pterosaurs on island. Moreover, presence insular ecosystem confirms once aberrant nature Late Cretaceous island-dwelling endemic fauna.
