摘要: Abstract Uncertainties involved in the characterization and seismic response of soil–foundation–structure systems along with inherent randomness earthquake ground motion result very complex (and often controversial) effects interaction (SFSI) on structures. Conventionally, SFSI have been considered beneficial (reducing structural response), however, recent evidence from strong earthquakes has highlighted possibility detrimental or increase due to SFSI. This paper investigates structures through a robust Monte Carlo simulation using wide range realistic SFS input motions time-history analyses. The results total 1.36 million analyses are used rigorously quantify distortion horizontal displacement structure, identify conditions (system properties characteristics) under which increases response.
