Adverse childhood experiences and associations with health-harming behaviours in young adults: surveys in eight eastern European countries

摘要: Objective To evaluate the association between adverse childhood experiences – e.g. abuse, neglect, domestic violence and parental separation, substance use, mental illness or incarceration health of young adults in eight eastern European countries. Methods Between 2010 2013, experience surveys were undertaken Albania, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, Romania, Russian Federation, The former Yugoslav Republic Macedonia Turkey. There 10 696 respondents 59.7% female aged 18–25 years. Multivariate modelling was used to investigate relationships health-harming behaviours early adulthood including physical inactivity attempted suicide. Findings Over half reported at least one experience. Having increased probability having other experiences. number positively correlated with subsequent reports behaviours. Compared those who no experiences, four significantly risk many behaviours, odds ratios varying from 1.68 (95% confidence interval, CI: 1.32–2.15) for 48.53 31.98–76.65) Modelling indicated that prevention would substantially reduce occurrence within study population. Conclusion Our results indicate individuals do not develop are more likely have experienced safe, nurturing childhoods. Evidence-based programmes improve parenting support child development need large-scale deployment European.
