摘要: During evolution vertebrates had to evolve in order perform more and complex tasks. To achieve this goal, they developed specialized tissues: a highly branched vascular system ensure that all tissues receive adequate blood supply, an intricate nervous which nerves branch transmit electrical signals peripheral organs. The development of both systems is tightly controlled by series developmental cues, the accomplishment stereotyped mature network. Vessels use similar principles grow, differentiate, navigate toward their final targets. Both share several molecular pathways, highlighting important link between biology neuroscience. Moreover, crosstalk and, when deregulated, contribute medically relevant diseases. This new phenomenon, named neurovascular link, promises accelerate discovery pathogenetic insights therapeutic strategies for treatment neurological study systems, scientists are taking advantage vertebrate invertebrate animal models. In first part chapter, we will discuss commonly used models; second part, striking similarities occurring during neural be revised.
