摘要: Abstract Craniopharyngioma is a histologically benign intracranial neoplasm. Although it may be locally aggressive and frequently recur, frank malignant transformation of craniopharyngioma very rare, with only 20 cases being well-documented in the literature. Most these occur as recurrences within 10 years following initial surgery, while rare malignancy can develop de novo. The majority tumors are either squamous cell carcinomas transformed from craniopharyngiomas, or histological features which have developed otherwise typical craniopharyngiomas. outcome after generally poor, most patients succumbing 7 months. underlying mechanism for unclear, but radiation suggested contributing factor. Wnt/beta-catenin signaling pathway has been implicated tumorigenesis its role(s) carcinogenesis craniopharyngiomas needs to further explored.
