A letter to the late Felix Biestek: Revisiting the seven principles of The Casework Relationship with contemporary struggles

摘要: It is acknowledged that ‘The Casework Relationship’ a seminal work in the social literature. Written by Professor Felix Biestek (1912–1994) of School Social Work at Loyola University 1957, book has been translated into six languages and considered ‘best seller’ community. Rather than writing another straightforward review (Bisno, 1958; Mwansa, 2008; Perlman, 1957), I propose instead to draft letter share my thoughts on contemporary struggles casework relationships. As nearly decades have passed since introduced his seven principles – individualization, purposeful expression feelings, controlled emotional involvement, acceptance, non-judgmental attitude, client self-determination, confidentiality believe present-day students scholars should contemplate how these may contrast with concerns chaos our present.
