Social Media for Academic Neurosurgical Programs: The University of Toronto Experience

摘要: Background There is a paucity of available strategies to increase visibility and engagement in social media (SM) within the neurosurgical community. The objective this study was investigate possible factors for reach among SM users neurosurgery. Methods Data from Facebook Twitter accounts our institution were collected. We extracted data on demographics attributes current users, including sex, country, age group, device used, language. Attributes posts also collected, time post, type content impressions, engagements. Nonparametric analyses conducted evaluate differences metrics. Results Metrics obtained 192 posts, published online between October 1, 2013, March 13, 2016. On both platforms, there greater representation male relative female users. predominantly 18–34 years range (83%), with most being outside North America. Conversely, Canada United States comprised highest proportion containing photos or videos scored significantly higher engagements impressions ( P Conclusions demonstrates that comprise younger demographic optimization materials may lead engagement. impact high academic programs remains be determined.
