摘要: Abstract Coral reefs of the Persian Gulf are vulnerable to potentially toxic metals (PTMs) accumulated in ambient sediments. Nonetheless, few studies have investigated PTMs pollution and risk hotspot coral ecosystems at a large-scale. Hereupon, this study focused on contamination, their potential ecological risks, historical depositions, geochemical controls plausible sources core sediments (0-40 cm) collected from ten Gulf, Iran. Both total fraction analysis indicated considerable metal levels. Contamination was steadily decreasing towards bottom sediment core, revealing impact recent anthropogenic input. High association with exchangeable other mobile fractions observed, indicating high bioavailability. Of all elements analyzed, Cd, Hg As exhibited highest (RI). Site rank index (SRI), modified degree contamination (mCd), severity (CSI) based approaches identified stations ST5, ST9 ST10 as most contaminated sites area. The same were also found possess risk. Principal component (PCA) revealed that located zone contain for whereas areas low activity mainly affected by river runoff urban emissions.
