摘要: Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine analysts’ evaluations usefulness KPIs disclosed by UK corporates. disclosure KPIs, both financial and non-financial driven legislation in the form Companies Act 2006. considers two key concerns raised with KPI disclosure: a lack standardisation (leading inconsistency calculation) external assurance. Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire was prepared which used as basis for semi-structured interviews senior professional equity analysts. Questions were designed cover aspects desirability improve consistency comparability well incremental value audit firms providing assurance KPIs. Findings: are indeed useful supplement statements developing corporate narrative. Analysts highlighted that significant amount information released market advance Annual Report performs confirmatory role. Whilst analysts highlight inconsistencies calculation methods they did not feel standard should be prescribed. Further over would valuable perceived remove flexibility companies select most appropriate measures. Research limitations/implications: contributes body research on focussing how intended audience whether mechanism may strengthened. Practical implications: findings provide an interface between theory practice adding knowledge particular it used. This will turn help setters ensuring disclosures enhance usefulness.
