摘要: Abstract Herpes simplex virus (HSV) is known to infect several body sites. Most commonly HSV infection results in lesions around the mouth or genital area. Infection at these sites may also be subclinical. Over past decade has been increasingly recognized as an important cause of both mild and severe diseases a wide range patients. Two distinct types are known, HSV-1 HSV-2, many antigens shared between two. with either type can occur early life, although HSV-2 becomes common only after puberty. The most manifestation orofacial "fever blister," while often responsible for lesions. 1,2 Either can, however, disease almost any site recur frequently. This recurrence from inapparent latent state makes unique among viral infections. Mistakes diagnosis infections based on clinical findings alone not uncommon. Herpetic have confused allergic reactions, drug due other infectious agents. Besides medical importance special situations, social impact having "herpes" considerable concern everyone. Therefore, precise paramount importance, particularly since effective antiviral therapy available forms disease. Morphologically, all herpesviruses alike (Fig. 1); therefore, it possible differentiate members group by their structure alone. Although rapid techniques constantly being refined improved, isolation tissue culture still definitive method detecting HSV, widely used. In this chapter detailed procedures typing described, brief reviews methods that used conjunction when cell facilities available.
