Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder in the Acute Hospital Setting: a Critical Review of the Literature (2014–2019)

摘要: Patients with opioid use disorder (OUD) often have concomitant medical conditions requiring hospitalization. This review describes the treatment of patients OUD in acute care hospitals. Topics addressed include screening hospitalized for OUD, hospital initiation medications (MOUD), Addiction Medicine Consult Services (AMCS), managing infectious complications intravenous use, and clinical innovations. Management withdrawal MOUD improves engagement post-discharge addiction treatment. Implementation an AMCS patient provider outcomes. Care models that promote seamless transitions from inpatient to outpatient setting can improve outcomes reduce health utilization. Comprehensive patient, provider, Future studies should define essential components this integrated establish a new standard OUD.
