摘要: Mediterranean countries like Portugal and Spain, so far characterised by extensive traditional land use over major parts of their territories, have been less affected species losses. However, they are facing severe changes. As a model organism we chose the butterfly Euphydryas aurinia, highly threatened in Central Europe but still common at Iberian Peninsula, for mark-release-recapture survey western Algarve. We examined key factors stabile metapopulation systems to assess ability long-term survival increasingly fragmented landscapes Peninsula. The density population was high (ca. 2,200 individuals/ha). MRR-based proportion individuals moving longer distance classes showed better fit negative exponential function than inverse power implying restricted dispersal behaviour. orientation pattern short movements ( 10 m) were strongly orientated along main habitat axes revealing importance internal structures dispersing individuals. Based on these data, discuss consequences fauna Peninsula an monotonous landscape.
