摘要: SUMMARY (1) Recoveries of herring gulls ringed on the Isle May between 1966-74 illustrated a high post-fledging mortality young gulls, whereas adult was greatest in summer months. (2) Dispersal predominantly southerly direction, with furthest recoveries reported Germany and Denmark, moving southwards dispersed significantly further than those flying westwards or northwards. (3) The rate dispersal greater amongst 2- 3-year-old birds, but first year gulls. A contraction range from months illustrates return to as reach maturity. (4) There evidence that considerable proportion do not natal colony breed. (5) late hatching less early young. (6) no difference recovered inland, except during when birds had returned coastal island breeding sites.
