摘要: Summary In a deep aquifer associated with an accretionary prism, significant methane (CH4) is produced by subterranean microbial community. Here, we developed bioreactors for producing CH4 and hydrogen (H2) using anaerobic groundwater collected from the aquifer. To generate CH4, amended organic substrates was incubated in bioreactor. At first, H2 detected accumulated gas phase of After decreased, rapid production observed. Phylogenetic analysis targeting 16S rRNA genes revealed that H2-producing fermentative bacterium hydrogenotrophic methanogen were predominant reactor. The results suggested syntrophic biodegradation contributed to production. For production, groundwater, inhibitor methanogens (2-bromoethanesulfonate), incubation 24 h, bioreactor accumulated.
