摘要: We examined multivariate evolution of 20 leaf terpenoids in the invasive plant Melaleuca quinquenervia a common garden experiment. Although most compounds, including 1,8-Cineole and Viridiflorol, were reduced home compared with invaded range genotypes, consistent an evolutionary decrease defense, one compound (E-Nerolidol) was greater than genotypes. Nerolidol negatively genetically correlated Cineole increase this new may have been driven by negative correlation. There positive selection on all three focal loss genetic variation introduced Selection skewers analysis predicted Viridiflorol or no change Nerolidol, direct contrast to observed changes range. This discrepancy could be due differences patterns selection, correlations, herbivore communities versus ranges. compounds increased competitive ability hypothesis, other as well not, indicating that it is important understand nature correlations predict species.
