摘要: Inflammation in the central nervous system (CNS) is associated with epilepsy and characterized by increased levels of a complex set soluble molecules their receptors epileptogenic foci profound neuromodulatory effects. These activate receptor-mediated pathways glia neurons that contribute to hyperexcitability neural networks underlie seizure generation. As consequence, exciting new opportunities now exist for novel therapies targeting various components immune inflammatory mediators, especially IL-1β system. This review summarizes recent findings our understanding role inflammation reducing threshold, contributing generation, participating epileptogenesis. We will discuss preclinical studies supporting hypothesis pharmacological inhibition specific proinflammatory signalings may be useful treat drug-resistant seizures human epilepsy, possibly delay or arrest
