Evaluation of a Multidisciplinary Clinical Module on Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery at Al-Baha University: Students and Academic Staff Perceptions

摘要: Introduction: Al-Baha Faculty of Medicine is adopting an integrated system-based curriculum. In the basic sciences phase, integration was direct and system-based, while very challenging in clinical phase. To develop a fully module, it necessary to revisit disciplines be tailored one common educational medium. Methods: module on: Cardiology Cardiovascular Surgery (CCVS), committee assembled including disciplines. Intended learning outcomes (ILOs) were formulated. Varieties teaching, assessment strategies adopted. Inferences program evaluation obtained from students staff through self-administered questionnaires. Results: These efforts resulted construction students’ study guide approximately 20% content allocated sciences. The introduced fourth year students. teaching activities consisted 32 lectures: 32, 2 tutorials, 4 seminars, 8 problem-based (PBL) sessions, self-directed (SDL) 5 skills laboratory 12 day-long hospital-based practical sessions.Module ILOs perceived as comprehensive by 23.3% 86.7% respectively. satisfactory. Perceived points weakness were: imbalance between medicine surgery. Conclusions: Validity phase bridged borders different case CCVS can seen prototype areas
