摘要: Abstract We have observed unusual oscillations in the rate of CO oxidation over a polycrystalline Pt wire loop. In contrast to simple between states low and high reactivity, occurred low, intermediate, values reaction rate. Experiments were performed at atmospheric pressure gas flow reactor range temperatures partial pressures. The was measured using thermocouple spotwelded For given pressure, temperatures. Oscillations became complex as temperature lowered. When we monitored two thermocouples on opposite sides loop, found that phase, but differed details shape amplitude. cut loop separated halves, lower disappeared, half-loops with different frequencies. Results obtained by varying separation showed coupling primarily through phase. back together, resynchronized, waveforms reappeared To our knowledge, this is first experimental demonstration chemical oscillators can increase parameter space which oscillatory instabilities occur.
