摘要: Dental caries is the most prevalent chronic disease seen in children worldwide, and despite advancements oral healthcare, many adults are still affected. The etiology of dental complex, including environmental genetic factors. Environmental factors such as fluoride exposure, hygiene, salivary function, diet, bacterial flora have all been studied found to contribute experience. However, little known about causes caries. Candidate genes involved enamel formation, tooth development, taste be associated with caries.Matrix metalloproteinases a multi-gene family responsible for degrading extracellular matrix (ECM) molecules. Their role environment involves ECM remodeling degradation processes. Because dentin composed primarily an organic matrix, mostly collagen, it can pose potential substrate MMP10.Recent initial GWAS results showed association between MMP10 [Personal Communication, Center Craniofacial Genetics].Based upon these findings, we performed replication study determine if associations were present our population. We also genotype precision that GWAS. genotyped 274 Caucasian individuals at SNP rs2276108 338 rs17293642 using Taqman® genotyping assay. Linear regression analysis PLINK, adjusting age, sex site, no SNPs sample Failure replicate findings suggests priority efforts should given exploring other candidate associations. public health importance identifying understanding how they impact heatlh issues open up new strategies treatment prevention may elucidate biological
