First Three Generations of Evolved Robots

摘要: The field of robotics today faces an economic predicament: most problems in the physical world are too difficult for current state art. difficulties associated with designing, building and controlling robots have led to a stasis, industry only applied simple highly repetitive manufacturing tasks. Over last few years we been trying address this challenge through alternative approach: Rather than seeking intelligent general-purpose robot, process that can automatically design fabricate special purpose mechanisms controllers achieve specific short-term objectives. This short paper provides brief review three generations our research results. Automatically designed high part-count static structures buildable, manufactured dynamic electromechanical systems, modular generative encoding.
