Exposure to alcohol problems and its association with sexual behaviour and biologically confirmed Trichomonas vaginalis among women living with HIV

摘要: Objectives: Only a small number of studies have examined the association between alcohol use and risky sexual behaviour among women living with HIV, particularly African-American women. The present study problems, biologically confirmed sexually transmitted infections (STI) sample predominantly HIV. Methods: A 366 HIV ages 18 50 years participated in study. majority were (84.2%). Participants completed face-to-face interview assessing sociodemographics, behaviour, other substance problems using CAGE (Cut down, Annoyed, Guilty, Eye opener), screening measure for abuse. also provided self-collected vaginal swab specimens that assayed STI. Results: prevalence high scores on was 54.5% 15% tested positive Trichomonas vaginalis . Multivariate logistic regression analyses, age as covariates, indicated who scored higher CAGE, relative to those lower, more likely test T , sex their spouse or steady partner when only they had been drinking both drinking. Conclusions: These findings suggest assessment should be included regular healthcare maintenance Intervention programmes tailored address use/abuse
