Picturing Usenet: Mapping Computer-Mediated Collective Action

摘要: Usenet is a complex socio-technical phenomenon, containing vast quantities of information. The sheer scope and complexity make it challenge to understand the many dimensions across which people communication are interlinked. In this work, we present visualizations several aspects scales that combine highlight range variation found in newsgroups. We examine variations within hierarchies, newsgroups, authors, social networks. find remarkable diversity, with clear mark starting points for mapping broad sweep behavior other cyberspaces. Our findings provide basis initial recommendations those cultivating, managing, contributing, or consuming collectively constructed conversational content.
