摘要: Abstract The involvement of intranigral γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors in the control generalized non-convulsive epilepsy was investigated a genetically determined model petit mal rat. Bilateral injection muscimol (2 ng/0.2 μl/ side), GABA agonist, significantly suppressed EEG-recorded spike-and-wave discharges for about 80 min, both at cortical and thalamic levels. This suppressive effect shown to be dose-dependent, reproduced by bilateral injections 4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-isoxazolo [5,4-c]pyridin 3-ol (THIP), another reversed subsequent bicuculline methiodide, antagonist. In addition, anti-absence effects were well localized substantia nigra. antagonists per se had no on discharges. These results demonstrate that activation nigra suppresses occurrence an animal epilepsy. are compared data obtained models convulsive hypothesis nigral GABAergic mechanisms as system epilepsies is discussed.
