摘要: Abstract : This program was part of the DARPA on Synthetic Multi-Functional Materials focused structural plus ballistic and blast protection. During first period this we have been focusing developing both intrinsic embedded functionality into a class metal-intermetallic laminate (MIL) composites based Ti-Al system. These layered were initially developed as an Army MURI at University CA, San Diego lightweight armor material. MIL offer unique combination excellent specific mechanical properties such high strength, hardness, fracture toughness, with ability to be formed complex shaped penetration resistance materials. The addition sensing, control, enhanced vibration damping, self healing possibly power generation could make these materials valuable future defense systems.
