摘要: Utilization of greywater can reduce water stress if, it is used as an alternative source for non-potable use, but requires careful treatment to remove the contaminants including micropollutants associated with use a large number personal care products. The present paper deals batch well continuous adsorption study using activated carbons prepared from sawdust, sugarcane bagasse and pine needles. Characterization adsorbents were done through sophisticated instruments such FE-SEM, FTIR BET. optimum conditions in mode removal are found pH 7, contact time 240 min. adsorbent dose 8 g/L initial COD 554 mg/L BOD 120 mg/L. For isotherms study, models Langmuir, Freundlich Temkin whereas kinetic pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order Elovich investigated validate experimental data. column has been performed carry out breakthrough analysis bed respect removal. To understand behaviour curves three viz. Bohart-Adams, Yoon-Nelson Thomas have tested. Out these adsorbents, sawdust carbon be more efficient. maintain concentration pollutants treated below permissible limit per CPCB (Central pollution control board), India, coupled unit sand was mode. investigation appears highly competitive published literature.
