摘要: This paper explores the polemic that erupted in early 2007 Peru over monument called The Eye Cries (El ojo que llora). monument, which commemorates victims of Peru's recent political violence, has become key to ongoing ‘battles for memory’ or ‘memory struggles’, struggles pit opposing memories decade and a half violence 1980s 1990s. I argue this offers privileged perspective from consider ways two interpretations violent past have emerged last few years.
