摘要: ABSTRACT: The archaeozoological study of the domestic livestock recovered from two differ- ent stratigraphic contexts, Structure 12 Cueva Pintada Galdar site (Gran Canaria, Spain) is presented. Both contexts are dated between fifteenth and sixteenth centuries CE. One them definitely previous to conquest island, while other belongs a period in which that had already taken place.Pigs, goats sheep species consumed during century beginning century. There no evidence for introduction new nor use metal tools butchery or consumption activities. However, earlier con- text, annexation Castilian Crown, pigs abundances (MNE=63%) much higher than those caprines (goats sheep) (MNE=37%), an unparalleled circumstance the Canary Islands thus far. This trend seems reverse last decades century, coinciding with colonial occupation. only issue remains unchanged every context proportion versus sheep. Mortality profiles suggest were at any age throughout year, although adults preferred. In contrast, pig slaughtering focused on sub-adults, 12-25 months old, when reach their optimal weight. These results show sacrificed different ages purposes, whereas breeding was highly specialised, probably aimed obtaining maximum amount meat given time.
