Antigenic classification and taxonomy of flaviviruses (family Flaviviridae) emphasizing a universal system for the taxonomy of viruses causing tick-borne encephalitis.

摘要: For many years the expression "tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus" has been used to denote viruses causing clinical entity TBE. No virus with name "TBE registered in International Catalogue of Arboviruses, generally accepted reference for naming arthropod-borne viruses, and no formal agreement reached within scientific community use virus"; this term is inaccurate indicating etiologic agent disease TBE confuses students others regarding ecology, transmission, severity. This paper suggests alternative names antigenic complex flaviviruses (family Flaviviridae) which belong. A classification scheme system taxonomy also proposed. It suggested that universal acceptance Central European would improve dialogue between laboratory virologists clinicians understanding epidemiology tick-borne flaviviruses.
