摘要: In brain cells, various metabolites and metabolic pathways, largely of mitochondrial origin, have been shown to be compartmentalized. Attention has therefore focused on the possible existence heterogeneity in at cellular level. To determine whether mitochondria cultured cortical cerebellar astrocytes are heterogeneous single cell level, immunogold electron microscopy an antibody against alpha-ketoglutarate dehydrogenase component complex, a marker enzyme for tricarboxylic acid (TCA) cycle, were employed. The number gold particles was counted 36 42 cells from astrocytes, respectively. A test random distribution (Poisson distribution) according subsequently performed every one as ratio variance/mean (= index dispersion). This should approximately distributed chi2/degrees freedom (df) = n - 1, mitochondria), if observations obeyed Poisson distribution. For 26 (cerebellar astrocytes) distributions 28 (cortical had rejected. These findings strongly indicate that is heterogeneously within individual originating either cerebellum or cerebral cortex. conclusion, this study underlines probability level might extended involve other pathways metabolites.
