摘要: De seneste ars intensive brug af ordet ”ghetto” i den offentlige og politiske debat stiller det centrale sporgsmal: Giver sociologisk set mening at anvende begrebet en dansk sammenhaeng? Med udgangspunkt introduktion til fransk-amerikanske sociolog Loic Wacquants model for sociospatialle afsondringsprocesser, fokuserer artiklen pa de konkrete karakteristika, der kendertegner omdiskuterede danske boligomrader dag, hvilken grad disse er sammenfaldende med amerikanske ghettoer, som Wacquant definerer dem. Konkret anvendes afsaet sammenligning 35 forsomte boligomraders karakteristika ved hjaelp multipel korrespondanceanalyse baseret 18 variable. Analysen bruges skitsere, hvad mere overordnet karakteriserer boligomrader. Pa denne baggrund konkluderes det, trods ghettoer indtager samme position (bolig)sociale hierarki dermed kan betegnes homologe, historisk, socialt, politisk strukturelt betinget vaesentligt forskellige arsager.
