摘要: Bacteriorhodopsin (bR) is the only protein found in purple membrane, a specific patch plasma membrane of Halobacterium halobium. accounts for 75% mass and forms two-dimensional crystalline lattice. It has retinal as chromophore with an absorption maximum around 570 nm, hence name membrane. Light energy absorbed by bR drives protons actively across from cytoplasmic to extracellular side. Although mechanism this light-driven proton pump been subject considerable number investigations, relation between tertiary structure still obscure [for reviews see Henderson (1977), Stoeckenius et al.
